What causes black discharge outside of the menstrual period?
Disease description:
Many of my friends have regular menstrual cycles, but I experience irregular vaginal bleeding, especially frequent bleeding between periods, often accompanied by the discharge of dark (black) blood. So, what causes black discharge during non-menstrual periods?
Black discharge outside of the menstrual period may be due to bleeding during ovulation. It can also occur in certain non-ovulatory conditions, such as intercourse-related bleeding caused by gynecological inflammations including vaginitis, chronic cervicitis, and cervical erosion. Timely medical consultation is recommended, along with appropriate ancillary examinations such as colposcopy, routine vaginal discharge test, and color Doppler ultrasound of the uterus and adnexa. Once the underlying cause is identified, prompt treatment is necessary to prevent disease progression and adverse outcomes such as cervical cancer.
