How to exercise for sore muscles in the upper arm due to shoulder periarthritis
Disease description:
I have periarthritis of the shoulder, and recently my upper arm muscles have been sore during exercise. How should I exercise when experiencing upper arm muscle soreness due to shoulder periarthritis?
Patients with shoulder periarthritis and soreness in the upper arm muscles should perform exercises including upper arm training, towel-back rubbing exercise, bilateral arm pulling exercise, and arm lifting with elbow flexion. Attention should be paid to the intensity during exercise. The wall-climbing exercise is the most practical method, but intensity must still be controlled. The towel-back rubbing technique is also recommended—performed similarly to scrubbing one's back during a shower. Both the arm stretching exercise and the arm-raising with elbow-bending exercise require standing with feet positioned shoulder-width apart. Avoid performing unguided or overly aggressive self-rehabilitation exercises, as these may lead to an enlarged rotator cuff tear.
