Will I still have menstrual cramps after hysterectomy?
Disease description:
Since I was young, I've always had severe menstrual cramps. Now I've already given birth to two children and don't plan to have any more. So I'm wondering, if I undergo a hysterectomy, will I still have menstrual pain?
Removal of the uterus eliminates menstrual pain. After a hysterectomy, women no longer have menstrual periods and therefore do not experience dysmenorrhea. If a patient has primary dysmenorrhea without organic pathology, special treatment is usually unnecessary; keeping warm and maintaining good health habits are sufficient, and symptoms generally diminish with age. For women who do not desire future pregnancies and whose dysmenorrhea is severe and intolerable, hysterectomy may be considered. Patients are advised to actively pursue scientifically based treatments, clearly identify the underlying cause, and receive appropriate therapeutic management.
