Dr. Chen Bin
Patients with hyperthyroidism should not eat river fish or freshwater fish. Fish contain a certain amount of iodine, and individuals with hyperthyroidism should avoid consuming iodine-rich foods such as seaweed, kelp, and sea fish. Consuming iodine-containing foods or iodized salt can increase iodine intake, which in turn affects the synthesis of thyroid hormones, leading to increased production of thyroid hormones and worsening the existing symptoms of thyrotoxicosis.
