The occurrence of hyperthyroidism may be related to adverse mental conditions in patients, such as psychological stress or excessive pressure. Additionally, hyperthyroidism may be associated with infections, trauma, and excessive iodine intake. Some cases of hyperthyroidism may be caused by genetic factors. Hyperthyroidism is closely linked to autoimmune disorders, genetics, and psychological factors. It is not that hyperthyroidism itself is inherited, but rather that the underlying autoimmune condition may have a hereditary tendency. If there is familial clustering, along with emotional stress, anxiety, or excessive pressure, individuals are more likely to develop hyperthyroidism.
