Today, I went out running with a friend. I hadn't run far before I started gasping for breath, experiencing difficulty breathing, and feeling extremely uncomfortable all over. After a medical checkup, I was diagnosed with emphysema. Could you please tell me what symptoms does emphysema present?

Emphysema may not present obvious symptoms in the early stages, and patients might only experience chest tightness and shortness of breath during physical exertion. As the disease progresses, symptoms such as chest tightness, breathlessness, and difficulty breathing gradually worsen, occurring even at complete rest. Patients may also develop additional discomforts including weight loss, decreased appetite, or cough with sputum production. During acute phases of the illness, symptoms such as fever may also appear.
