Graves' disease (Hashimoto's hyperthyroidism) is usually curable. As an autoimmune disorder, Graves' disease can potentially be cured through active, physician-guided treatment with antithyroid medications. In severe cases, radioactive iodine (I-131) therapy or surgical intervention may also be used. During treatment, patients should avoid high-fat foods.
