What exactly is uterine leiomyoma?
Disease description:
I was diagnosed with uterine leiomyoma at the hospital. This is the first time I've heard of this condition. Could you please explain what exactly uterine leiomyoma is?
Uterine leiomyoma refers to uterine fibroids, which are benign tumors formed by the proliferation of smooth muscle tissue in the uterus. Contributing factors include genetics, hormones, and stem cells. Uterine fibroids commonly occur in women aged 30 to 50. They may be asymptomatic or cause noticeable symptoms such as menstrual abnormalities, increased vaginal discharge, and lower abdominal discomfort.
