I've had persistent itching and some pain in the external genital area for the past few days, to the point that I can't even go to work. I'd like to know what might be causing this.

Itching and pain in the vulva may be due to vulvitis, which is usually caused by pathogen invasion or irritation, and may be accompanied by ulceration. It could also be genital warts, which cause skin growths on the vulvar area of affected individuals, appearing either papillary or cauliflower-like. Additionally, gonorrhea can also lead to symptoms of vulvar itching and pain, typically transmitted through sexual contact.
