Is a hypoechoic finding always a fibroid?
Disease description:
A few days ago, when I went to the hospital for a uterine examination, the test report showed "hypoechoic." The doctor said it might be a fibroid. Does hypoechoic always mean a fibroid?
Hypoechoic findings may be caused by uterine fibroids, but uterine fibroids cannot be diagnosed based solely on this single examination finding. The development of uterine fibroids is often associated with abnormal hormone levels in the body. During imaging examinations, hypoechoic areas may appear if there are obvious cysts, hematometra (blood accumulation), or fluid accumulation within the uterine cavity. It is recommended that patients go to the hospital for further evaluation to determine the exact underlying cause.
