Does abnormal cardiac enzymes necessarily mean myocarditis?
Disease description:
During a hospital check-up, my cardiac enzyme levels came back abnormal, and a colleague mentioned that I might have myocarditis. I'd like to ask: does abnormal cardiac enzyme levels necessarily mean I have myocarditis?
Elevated cardiac enzymes do not necessarily indicate myocarditis. Although myocarditis can cause increased cardiac enzymes, other conditions may also lead to elevated levels, such as acute myocardial infarction, heart failure, or taking statin medications. When cardiac enzymes are elevated, further relevant tests are needed to determine the specific underlying cause, followed by targeted treatment based on the diagnosis. Patients should not undergo treatment blindly.
