Can inflammation of wisdom teeth in pregnant women heal on its own?
Disease description:
Recently my wisdom tooth became inflamed, but I'm pregnant, so I'm hesitant to undergo any treatment. I'd like to ask: can a wisdom tooth infection heal on its own during pregnancy?
Pregnant women with inflamed wisdom teeth generally cannot expect the condition to resolve on its own. The treatment depends on the type of inflammation. If it is pericoronitis, the blind pouch around the wisdom tooth can be cleaned at home using hydrogen peroxide or saline solution to remove food debris, pus, and bacteria from within the pouch. Applying iodine glycerin both inside and outside the pouch can help control the inflammation. Since the patient is pregnant, antibiotics should be avoided as much as possible to prevent potential effects on the fetus.
