What are the endogenous coagulation factors?
Disease description:
When my colleague went for a medical checkup, they were diagnosed with a deficiency in intrinsic coagulation factors. I would like to know what the intrinsic coagulation factors are.
Endogenous coagulation factors include XI, VIII, IX, and most notably XII. These coagulation factors are essentially proteins. The intrinsic coagulation pathway primarily revolves around the activation of factor XII, which subsequently leads to the formation of a substance that activates factor X. Furthermore, in the human blood coagulation process, there are two pathways—intrinsic and extrinsic—both of which ultimately converge at factor X to complete the coagulation process.
