Pelvic inflammatory disease and adnexitis may result from factors such as excessive vaginal cleaning, prolonged use of sanitary pads, or sexual intercourse during menstruation, which can compromise local defenses and increase susceptibility to pathogenic invasion, thereby leading to pelvic inflammatory disease and adnexitis. It is also possible that these conditions develop after procedures such as uterine evacuation or medical abortion, especially when proper local care is not maintained post-procedure.
