What are the treatment methods for urethral stones?
Disease description:
Recently, I developed urethral stones, making urination very difficult and resulting in only a dribbling stream. What are the treatment options for urethral stones?
Urethral stones can generally be treated with methods such as extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy and increased fluid intake. For patients with urethral stones smaller than 2 cm, extracorporeal shock wave therapy may be considered to achieve effective stone fragmentation. When the stone diameter is less than 0.5 cm, diuretics, antispasmodics, traditional Chinese medicine, and increased water intake may be used to facilitate favorable stone passage. For posterior urethral stones, it is recommended to use a sound (probe) to push the stone back into the bladder, or to remove the stone under direct vision via urethroscope.
