Drug treatment for this condition primarily works by reducing the excitability of nerve cell membranes, thereby suppressing such symptoms. Commonly used medications include carbamazepine and phenytoin sodium, and some doctors also prescribe methylcobalamin. Related traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) therapies can also be used, which have certain effectiveness in treating eyelid spasms. However, the effects of TCM treatment are not very pronounced, and the therapeutic action is relatively slow.
