Disease description:

Today, my grandma suddenly asked me about the symptoms of otitis media, but I couldn't really explain it clearly since I'm not quite sure myself. I'd like to know: what are the symptoms of chronic otitis media?

The main clinical manifestations of chronic otitis media include persistent or intermittent discharge of pus from the external auditory canal. Some cases of otitis media can resolve spontaneously, but may recur repeatedly. Pus from the external auditory canal may be accompanied by an odor or foul smell. Otitis media is associated with hearing loss. Additionally, in cases of chronic suppurative otitis media, recurrent ear discharge often occurs, with purulent exudate and a foul odor.
