Can chronic pharyngitis occur after tonsillectomy?
Disease description:
I've been thinking about getting my tonsils removed these days, but a friend said it might cause chronic pharyngitis afterward. I'm not sure if that's true. I'd like to ask: can you develop chronic pharyngitis after tonsillectomy?
After tonsillectomy, chronic pharyngitis may occur, possibly due to insufficient water intake leading to "heatiness" in the body. Generally, patients must maintain a light diet after surgery and avoid greasy foods. It is recommended that patients consume white porridge, rice congee, cabbage soup, chrysanthemum tea, and noodles, all of which help postoperative recovery. Consuming overly greasy or hard foods may easily increase the risk of infection or bleeding at the surgical site.
