Tonsillectomy cannot directly cure psoriasis. Psoriasis is a complex chronic inflammatory skin disease whose causes involve multiple factors such as genetics, immune system dysfunction, and environment. Tonsillectomy primarily addresses conditions related to the ear, nose, and throat, such as chronic tonsillitis. Although some psoriasis patients may experience worsening symptoms triggered by episodes of tonsillitis, removing the tonsils does not alter the fundamental cause of psoriasis—abnormal immune system activity. In certain specific cases, such as psoriasis patients suffering from recurrent chronic tonsillitis, tonsillectomy may reduce the frequency of tonsillitis flare-ups and thereby indirectly improve psoriasis symptoms. However, it should be noted that this effect is not observed in all patients, and whether tonsillectomy is appropriate must be carefully evaluated based on each individual’s clinical situation. Tonsillectomy is not a fundamental treatment for psoriasis; management of psoriasis should instead rely on individualized treatment plans tailored to each patient's specific condition.
