Dr. Li Mingchuan
Having sex during pregnancy, whether or not ejaculation occurs, does not directly affect fetal development. However, engaging in sexual activity at inappropriate times may lead to premature labor or miscarriage. If intercourse takes place during the first three months of pregnancy, the risk of miscarriage significantly increases. It may cause abdominal pain and vaginal bleeding afterward. Therefore, to prevent such complications, sexual intercourse should be avoided during the first trimester as well as the last three months of pregnancy. Intercourse may be适当ly resumed during the second trimester, when the pregnancy is more stable.
