What are the causes of hyperthyroidism?
Disease description:
My eyeball is slightly protruding, and after going to the hospital for an examination, I was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism. What are the causes of hyperthyroidism?
Hyperthyroidism may be caused by diffuse goiter, usually due to autoimmune dysfunction and genetic factors leading to excessive synthesis and secretion of thyroid hormones. Hyperthyroidism can also result from multinodular toxic goiter, which is generally caused by long-standing thyroid nodules with autonomous dysregulation of hormone secretion.
