Endometrial thickening may be caused by endometrial hyperplasia or early pregnancy, but it is not necessarily due to endometrial cancer. Endometrial thickness and uterine cancer are two different conditions. Endometrial thickness varies with the menstrual cycle. The measurement of endometrial thickness is typically performed on the third day after menstruation ends, using transvaginal ultrasound to help determine whether it might be endometrial cancer.
