Is an endometrial thickness of 14mm very serious?
Disease description:
During the examination, they mentioned that my endometrial thickness was 14mm. So, is an endometrial thickness of 14mm considered serious?

An endometrial thickness of 14 mm does not necessarily indicate a serious problem, but it does require further evaluation. Normally, the endometrium varies in thickness at different stages of the menstrual cycle, typically measuring around 2–10 mm during the non-menstrual phase. If the thickness exceeds 10 mm, it may suggest an abnormality, such as endometrial hyperplasia, hormonal imbalance, or, in certain cases, endometrial polyps or uterine fibroids.
Furthermore, the severity depends on the patient's symptoms, age, reproductive history, and the presence of other complications. A physician may recommend additional tests, such as hysteroscopy or ultrasound-guided endometrial biopsy, to determine the cause of the thickened endometrium. If the thickening is functional and asymptomatic, it may require only observation and hormonal regulation. However, if symptoms are present or malignancy is suspected, treatment may be necessary.
