Blepharospasm can be evaluated by either an ophthalmologist or a neurologist. If the eye area has suffered trauma or if there has been excessive eye strain, it may lead to spasms of the eyelid. In such cases, patients should seek evaluation and appropriate treatment in the ophthalmology department. However, if the blepharospasm is caused by an intracranial space-occupying lesion that compresses the optic nerve, evaluation and treatment should be carried out in the neurology department after relevant examinations.
