Disease description:

While showering, I felt a small lump in my breast and suspected I might have mammary gland nodules. After going to the hospital for examination, the doctor diagnosed it as a breast tumor. What are the differences between mammary gland nodules and breast tumors?

Dr. Peng Xiaodong
Breast nodules refer to lumps in the breast. The difference between breast nodules and tumors lies in their nature: breast nodules are mostly benign lesions, with very few cases turning malignant; tumors, on the other hand, can be either benign or malignant. Their prognoses also differ. Breast nodules usually cause no obvious symptoms and do not require specific treatment—regular follow-up examinations are sufficient. Tumors, however, require determination of their benign or malignant nature and need active intervention; malignant tumors generally have a poor prognosis and may even threaten life.
