Nosebleeds are often caused by excessive liver fire, high blood pressure, and other factors. When a patient has excessive liver fire, it may force blood to flow out through the nostrils. Nosebleeds can also result from frequent nose picking, forceful nose blowing, or stimulation from cold air and similar factors. Particularly in patients with hypertension, unstable or excessively high blood pressure can cause rupture of blood vessels in the nasal cavity, leading to bleeding.
