What are the symptoms of hemorrhagic shock?

Hemorrhagic shock may present with symptoms such as pale and cold clammy skin, increased heart rate, and in some patients, hematemesis (vomiting of blood). In cases of significant blood loss, immediate medical evaluation at a hospital is necessary, including tests such as complete blood count, liver and kidney function, pulmonary function, and urinalysis. Prompt measures must also be taken to stop the bleeding and restore blood volume. The primary priorities in managing hemorrhagic shock are maintaining an open airway and controlling bleeding. Airway patency is fundamental for maintaining respiration and oxygen supply; in critically ill patients, endotracheal intubation and mechanical ventilation may be required to prevent the onset and progression of shock.
