Symptoms of different types of vaginitis
Disease description:
Recently, I've been experiencing severe itching of the vulva. A friend suggested it might be trichomonal vaginitis, while my mother thinks it's likely vulvovaginal candidiasis. Both conditions fall under vaginitis, but I'd like to know what symptoms differentiate various types of vaginitis.
In cases of trichomoniasis vaginitis, patients typically experience symptoms such as burning, pain, and itching of the vulva, along with yellowish-white or grayish-yellow discharge that is frothy and thin in consistency; sometimes the discharge may be purulent. The vaginal discharge usually has a noticeable unpleasant odor. In cases of vulvovaginal candidiasis, the discharge commonly appears thick, curd-like or resembling cottage cheese, accompanied by severe itching that may cause significant discomfort and restlessness for the patient.
