Dr. Zhang Lu

Nifuratel is a medication used for treating vaginal infections, available in various dosage forms such as suppositories and tablets. Generally, sexual intercourse with condom use is not recommended during treatment with Nifuratel.

The function of Nifuratel is to eliminate pathogens and restore a healthy vaginal environment. During treatment, the vaginal environment needs to remain stable for the medication to exert its full therapeutic effect. Even with condom use, sexual intercourse may alter the vaginal environment, affecting the distribution and effectiveness of the medication within the vagina. To ensure the medication's efficacy is not compromised, sexual activity should be avoided before the medication has fully dissolved or been absorbed.

Meanwhile, although condoms can help prevent the transmission of certain pathogens to some extent, they cannot completely eliminate the risk. Furthermore, during sexual intercourse, condoms may slip off or break, increasing the risk of cross-infection, which could worsen existing inflammation or lead to other infections. Therefore, sexual intercourse with condom use is not recommended during treatment with Nifuratel.

During Nifuratel therapy, patients should follow their doctor's advice and appropriately manage sexual activity to promote recovery from the condition.
