What causes pain during cervical screening?
Disease description:
It hurt so much during my cervical screening at the hospital today that I almost cried out. I wonder what could have caused this?
Cervical screening may be painful, possibly due to vaginal atrophy, which can cause a sensation of pressure or pain when examination instruments enter the vagina, especially in women who are postmenopausal. It could also be caused by vaginitis, in which the vaginal mucosa becomes swollen and congested. When instruments enter the vagina, friction can lead to localized pain, often accompanied by increased vaginal discharge.
