Sallow or dark facial complexion due to spleen deficiency is primarily caused by irregular diet or imbalanced work and rest, and may also result from prolonged illness leading to physical weakness and dysfunction of the spleen—a pathological condition. Spleen deficiency may also present with symptoms such as lingering abdominal pain, loose stools, cold limbs, poor appetite, abdominal distension, aversion to cold, and timidity. Some patients may additionally experience reduced urine output, fatigue, and lethargy.
