Do people with emphysema experience swollen feet?
Disease description:
A few months ago, I was diagnosed with emphysema at the hospital. This afternoon, I suddenly noticed that my feet were swollen. I would like to ask whether people with emphysema can experience swelling in the feet.
People with emphysema generally do not experience swollen feet. Emphysema is usually caused by abnormal, persistent dilation of the terminal bronchioles, accompanied by destruction of alveolar walls and bronchioles, which may lead to symptoms such as shortness of breath and chest tightness, but typically does not cause foot swelling. However, if the condition is not treated promptly after onset and progressively develops into chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and subsequently cor pulmonale, there is a certain likelihood of developing swollen feet.
