Is dacryoadenitis the same as dacryocystitis?
Disease description:
Are lacrimal gland inflammation and dacryocystitis the same? What's the difference between them?
The differences between dacryoadenitis and dacryocystitis are as follows:
1. The lacrimal gland is located above the upper eyelid and below the inner corner of the eye.
2. The treatments differ. Dacryoadenitis cannot be adequately treated with eye drops alone and may require systemic medication, whereas dacryocystitis can be treated with eye drops. Acute dacryocystitis can be treated with oral antibiotics, while chronic dacryocystitis requires surgical treatment.
