Symptoms of acute dacryoadenitis
Disease description:
My eyes have been tearing up and feeling somewhat painful these past couple of days. I'm not sure if I might have acute dacryoadenitis. What are the symptoms of acute dacryoadenitis?
The clinical manifestations of acute dacryoadenitis mainly include the following aspects:
1. Redness and swelling of the eye: Patients exhibit obvious redness and swelling, particularly in the outer one-third of the upper eyelid. In addition, severe edema may occur in the eyelid area, resulting in an S-shaped deformity.
2. Proptosis (eye bulging): Under the influence of inflammation, orbital cellulitis may develop, leading to proptosis, which may be accompanied by impaired eye movement.
3. Excessive tearing: Due to irritation or worsening infection of the lacrimal gland, patients may experience increased tear production.
4. Increased ocular discharge: Inflammation causes an increase in eye secretions, which may appear deep yellow in color and may be associated with itching of the lacrimal gland area.
5. Other symptoms: Besides the above, acute dacryoadenitis may also present systemic symptoms such as fever and headache. In severe cases, these systemic symptoms may become more pronounced.
