Dr. Zhang Heyang
Acute sepsis is a severe clinical syndrome characterized by the invasion and persistent presence of bacteria and fungi in the bloodstream, producing large amounts of toxins that trigger excessive inflammatory mediators in the body. This leads to systemic toxic manifestations including chills, high fever, shortness of breath, tachycardia, rash, bleeding, lymphadenopathy, hepatosplenomegaly, and elevated white blood cell count with left shift. Sepsis primarily results from uncontrolled local infections allowing pathogens to enter the bloodstream.
