How to correct esotropia in a 14-year-old
Disease description:
My child is 14 years old. His teacher just told me that she noticed my child has a slight inward turning of the eye (esotropia). How should my child's strabismus be corrected?
Glasses are commonly used to correct exotropia, as in accommodative esotropia. Prisms may also be used for correction; low-power prisms, such as vertical ones, can help correct or manage the condition, sometimes in combination with medication. It is important to avoid incorrect eye-use habits in daily life and to develop good lifestyle practices. Maintain proper eye hygiene, avoid frequently rubbing the eyes with hands, and ensure adequate rest.
