What are the consequences of bacteremia?
Disease description:
During this period, several of my friends have developed bacteremia. What are the consequences of bacteremia?
Patients with bacteremia may develop persistent high fever, and in severe cases, progress to sepsis, septic shock, and organ failure, which can be life-threatening. Bacteremia requires prompt treatment, typically involving antibiotics. The most important step is obtaining positive bacterial cultures through repeated blood cultures, followed by selecting targeted antibiotics based on antimicrobial susceptibility testing. It is essential to initiate timely treatment to avoid missing the optimal therapeutic window. Maintaining good hygiene, frequent handwashing, and a balanced diet are also recommended in daily life.
