Can azithromycin be taken for lacrimal gland inflammation?
Disease description:
My eyes feel uncomfortable, and I was diagnosed with dacryoadenitis at the hospital. Can I take azithromycin for treatment?
Dacryoadenitis can generally be treated with azithromycin. Dacryoadenitis is a common eye condition, typically managed with oral medications. Acute dacryoadenitis is usually caused by bacterial infection, and patients often require oral antibiotics to resolve the inflammation and alleviate symptoms. For example, if the patient is not allergic to cephalosporin antibiotics, ceftriaxone can be taken orally. If the patient is allergic to cephalosporins, alternatives such as roxithromycin or azithromycin may be used for treatment.
