Went to the hospital for a checkup at a young age, and the doctor said I have excessive dampness in the body, requiring proper regulation. May I ask what does it mean to have excessive dampness in the body?

Doctor's answer (1)
Dr. Ding Yu
Dampness accumulation, known in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) as spleen deficiency with excess dampness, occurs because the spleen is responsible for transformation and transportation, including the movement of bodily fluids. Irregular diet, excessive fatigue, chronic illness leading to physical weakness, or inherent deficiencies may result in spleen qi deficiency. When the spleen's function of transformation and transportation becomes impaired or weakened, water-dampness accumulates in the body, forming internal dampness. Dampness is characterized by heaviness and turbidity. Since the spleen governs the muscles and limbs, this condition manifests as mental fatigue, lethargy, limb weakness, shortness of breath, generalized fatigue, and a sensation of heaviness or soreness in the body.
