How to treat excessive dampness in the body
Disease description:
In recent years, I've had a severe accumulation of dampness in my body. The doctor advised me to pay more attention in daily life. I would like to ask, how can excessive dampness in the body be treated?
According to traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) theory, the most common concept involves spleen dysfunction. The spleen governs transformation and transportation, particularly of water and dampness. Once spleen deficiency occurs, water metabolism becomes impaired, leading to dampness accumulation and increased internal dampness in the body. Clinically, excessive dampness not only affects normal metabolism but also triggers a series of symptoms such as generalized body aches, heavy limbs, fatigue, diarrhea, thick, greasy, white tongue coating, etc. These symptoms are signals from the body indicating that we need to pay attention to and regulate spleen function. Oral administration of spleen-strengthening and dampness-resolving medications is recommended. Specific approaches include taking prescribed spleen-tonifying and dampness-transforming herbs such as Poria (Fuling), Atractylodes (Baizhu), and Codonopsis (Dangshen).
