Heel pain may be caused by plantar fasciitis. Prolonged running, exercise, or jumping can easily lead to plantar fasciitis, resulting in heel pain. The pain is particularly exacerbated when getting up suddenly after prolonged sitting or upon waking in the morning, though it usually subsides after a few minutes. Plantar fasciitis is a common and troublesome condition, especially among middle-aged and elderly individuals, and can be treated with oral pain relievers or corticosteroid injections.
