How to distinguish between menstrual periods and irregular bleeding
Disease description:
I'm not sure whether I'm having a regular period or irregular bleeding. I've been experiencing bleeding ever since my miscarriage. How can I tell the difference between a normal period and irregular bleeding?
Irregular bleeding and menstrual periods can be differentiated based on the regularity of bleeding, amount of blood loss, and other factors. Irregular bleeding can occur at any time. The menstrual cycle typically lasts between 28 to 30 days and tends to be relatively regular. The amount of bleeding during irregular episodes is unpredictable—it may be heavy at times and very light at others—and some patients may even pass blood clots. Normal menstrual blood loss in women generally ranges from 20 to 60 ml. Minor variations in menstrual flow can occur due to factors such as diet, exercise, and medication.
