What should be done if the fetus is in an abnormal position?
Disease description:
Went for a prenatal checkup today, and the doctor said the baby might have an abnormal fetal position. What should I do if the fetal position is abnormal?
What to do about fetal malposition depends on the specific circumstances of the patient. Before 32 weeks of gestation, if fetal malposition occurs, careful observation and waiting are recommended, as the fetus may correct itself spontaneously. Between 32 and 34 weeks of pregnancy, if fetal malposition persists, interventions such as the knee-chest position or moxibustion therapy may be used to adjust fetal position, thereby promoting fetal movement within the uterus and correcting the position. After 36 weeks, if the fetus remains in a malposition, external cephalic version (ECV) can be performed, using external pressure on the abdomen to manually rotate the fetus and reposition it appropriately.
