How is threatened preterm labor treated?
Disease description:
I had spotting today, and the examination revealed signs of preterm labor. How is threatened preterm labor treated?
Threatened preterm labor can be managed through interventions such as tocolytic therapy and bed rest. If examinations reveal cervical shortening or cervical dilation, prompt medical attention is recommended. Medications that suppress uterine contractions may be used to appropriately prolong gestational age. If the membranes remain intact and maternal-fetal conditions permit, efforts should be made to maintain the pregnancy until at least 34 weeks. Therefore, any abnormalities should be evaluated immediately at a hospital, and fetal preservation should be conducted under medical guidance. Regular daily care and routine check-ups are also important.
