What causes white lung?

White lung can be caused by various factors, with infection being the most severe cause, including bacterial, viral, parasitic (protozoal), or Legionella infections. Other causes include conditions such as diffuse alveolar hemorrhage syndrome and acute respiratory distress syndrome. Patients with white lung are prone to respiratory failure and often require mechanical ventilation, necessitating endotracheal intubation.
