Can ovulation occur with blocked fallopian tubes?
Disease description:
I suffer from infertility, but there are many causes of infertility, the most common being blocked fallopian tubes. This condition poses serious health risks to women and should be treated as soon as possible. So, can a woman ovulate if her fallopian tubes are blocked?
Blocked fallopian tubes do not affect ovulation. Ovulation, along with follicle growth and development, occurs in the ovaries. Generally, during each menstrual cycle, one dominant follicle larger than 10 mm will develop, while other follicles are suppressed. Once an egg is released, it is picked up by the fimbriae at the end of the fallopian tube and moves into the ampulla, where fertilization with sperm normally takes place. However, if the fallopian tubes are blocked, sperm and egg cannot meet, preventing fertilization and resulting in infertility. Patients who suspect they have blocked fallopian tubes should seek medical treatment at a hospital as soon as possible.
