Abnormal vaginal discharge does not cause absence of menstruation. Most cases of abnormal vaginal discharge are caused by inflammation, with common symptoms including yellowish discharge and an unpleasant odor, but these do not affect the endocrine system. If your menstrual cycle is normally regular and your period does not arrive as expected—especially if you've had sexual intercourse—you should first check whether you are pregnant. If pregnancy is ruled out, a variation of up to seven days earlier or later than expected is considered normal. A delay of more than seven days may indicate hormonal imbalance. It is recommended to visit a hospital for an ultrasound examination. If necessary, tests for six reproductive hormones and thyroid hormones can help identify the underlying cause of menstrual irregularities and guide appropriate treatment.
