How to distinguish abnormal uterine bleeding from menstruation
Disease description:
Recently, my menstrual bleeding has been irregular in amount and lasts longer than usual. During heavy episodes, I even develop anemia. I suspect I might be experiencing abnormal uterine bleeding, which is very frustrating since my period comes unpredictably. So, how can I differentiate between abnormal uterine bleeding and normal menstruation?
The easiest way to distinguish between abnormal uterine bleeding and normal menstruation is to seek help at a hospital. Additionally, patients can be differentiated based on certain symptoms. Normally, women have a menstrual period every 28 to 30 days, with each period lasting about 6 to 7 days. In normal menstruation, the flow is regular, whereas in abnormal uterine bleeding, bleeding typically lasts longer than 7 days and the amount of blood loss is very heavy, often accompanied by large blood clots in the menstrual fluid.
