Reasons for a longer menstrual cycle
Disease description:
My menstrual cycle has always been very regular. Recently, I've been maintaining a consistent sleep schedule and eating a balanced diet, yet my period cycle has become longer, which bothers me a lot and significantly affects my daily life. So, what could be the reasons for a longer menstrual cycle?
Many factors can lead to prolonged menstrual cycles, including psychological stress. If certain environmental changes are too intense, they may trigger a response. Other contributing factors include weight loss, anorexia nervosa, and excessive fatigue, all of which can result in prolonged menstrual cycles. For some women, poor uterine development and endometrial damage may also cause oligomenorrhea or even amenorrhea. Endometrial damage can occur after childbirth or dilation and curettage following induced abortion, including conditions such as endometrial tuberculosis, leading to adhesions due to injury of the endometrium and myometrium, which may result in excessively long menstrual cycles.
