The causes of stroke and traumatic brain injury are different. Traumatic brain injury results in damage to brain tissue, whereas stroke is caused by cerebral vascular occlusion or rupture leading to hemorrhage, resulting in stroke-like symptoms. The clinical manifestations of traumatic brain injury and stroke also differ. Patients with traumatic brain injury may experience severe headache, nausea and vomiting in severe cases, neurological deficits, coma, and other symptoms. Treatment approaches for brain injury and stroke differ as well. During the acute phase of brain injury, patients should rest in bed and receive medications for dehydration and reducing intracranial pressure; surgery may be required when necessary. For stroke, ischemic stroke can be treated with thrombolytic therapy, antiplatelet aggregation, and blood-activating and stasis-resolving methods.
